Mwamba recalled veterans Humphrey “Tall” Kayange, Collins Injera and Horace Otieno for the Driftwood 7s tournament held at Mbaraki sports Club in Mombasa.

The veterans recall seemed to have worked and in the early minutes of the Driftwoods cup final, Horace Otieno touched down for Mwamba before Captain Sikuta added another try.

Martin Wanjia’s conversion was good and Mwamba cruised to a 12-0 lead against Top Fry Nakuru.

Brad Owako, Martin Wanjia and Collins Injera scored quick consecutive tries to take Mwamba 24-0 up at the break.

Top Fry Nakuru’s miseries continued as they were reduced to six men. Nelson Oyoo was given matching orders by the center referee.

Collins Injera’s brilliant try saving tackle denied Nakuru their chance to go over the white wash.

Humphrey Kayange touched down for Mwamba in the dying moments of the game but Wanjia’s conversion went wide. Nakuru lost 29-0 to leave their fans in consternation.

In the 3rd / 4th play offs, Pan Africa Strathmore leos beat Menengai Cream Homeboyz RFC 19-12 at extra time. (Sudden death).

The plate final saw Kenya Commercial Bank RFC narrowly beat Kenya Harlequin FC 7-0 in a tight match. Peter Kilonzo scored KCB’s only try and Fabian Olando added the extras.

University Side, Blakblad RFC lost 21-5 to sugar millers, Kabras RFC in the Driftwood 7s bowl finals.

The shocking moment of the day was Nondies finding themselves not where many expected them to be. They put Kisumu RFC to the sword with a 29-0 win in the shield finals.
