Mwamba RFC, the most successful club in this tournament having won the Prinsloo 7s four times; in 2007, 2008, 2010 and 2010 ended their campaign with a 17-21 loss in the hands of Kenya Harlequin in the Plate semi finals.

University side Strathmore Leos edged Impala Saracens 17-19 to emerge third in the tournament.

Catholic Monks registered a 17-19 win in the Prinsloo 7s Shield finals against a highly spirited Makueni RFC in a tricky match.

Kenyatta University’s Blak Blad RFC scored an extra try over Western Bulls to win the Prinsloo 7s Bowl final. They won 5-10.

Masaku 7s, Dala 7s and Driftwood 7s Bowl Winners, Kabras Sugar RFC shock many when they reached the plate finals and overcame Kenya Harlequin 28-12.

None of the finalists had ever won the Prinsloo 7s cup final.

Top Fry Nakuru came from behind to beat Pan Africa Strathmore Leos in the Prinsloo 7s Cup semis 26-19. Godfrey Ominde, Philip Kwame and a late strike from Leslie Ochieng secured a win for Wanyore to take them to the cup finals.

Their counterparts, who happen to come from the same family, “Menengai Family”, Menengai Cream Homeboyz RFC saw off Resolution Impala Saracens 17-5 in the Cup semis.

Geoffrey Ominde known to many as Omy, took Wanyore (Nakuru) fans to their feet with the match opener in the first half. Omy added the extras with a well drilled conversion.

Kenya 7s International, Oscar Ayodi responded with a 90 yard sprint straight to the try box. Augustine Lugonzo was not good at his kicks today as most of his conversions including this one, went wide.

Both sides defended well from there on. The second half was quite tensing one. The match ended 5-7 in favor of the host.

This was a victory for which Top Fry Nakuru had waited since 2007.

To a neutral, Wanyore’s aftermatch hyperbole might seem more than enough. To a fan, Nakuru’s Prinsloo 7s Cup final win is the end of a nightmare, ending a drought that defied all logic.

Congratulations Nakuru for winning this year’s edition of Prinsloo 7s.
