The Varsity Warriors is composed of four Universities i.e. Kenya University, USIU, University of Nairobi and Catholic University of East Africa.

The club was formed this year (2017) but unfortunately it has not been a bed of roses to them. They have been really struggling in the Kenya Rugby Union Women’s 10s aside League.

Their efforts finally paid off, the team managed to win its first ever match in as many attempts, beating Comras Ladies 15-5 in the Ranking finals of the 3rd round of KRU Women’s 10s league that was played at KCB Grounds on 5th March 2017.

We caught up with Williams Motto, founder of Champions Community Club - Tripple C  who also doubles up as the coach and Strength and conditioning coach of Varsity Warriors and he had this to say.

"After the first ten matches without victory, we ( coaches and players) had to go back to the drawing board and reengineered our game , we had to set our tournament goals, of which we as a team has finally managed to achieve”, Coach Williams Motto told Shujaapride.com.

“It has been an uphill task, training a team composed of 4 universities (K.U, USIU, UON and CUEA) is not easy. For the first 2 legs team chemistry was still lacking, our conditioning was wanting, but finally we have started to play as a team,” he added.

Coach Motto believes if they keep on working tirelessly and remain level-headed, then sky will no longer be the limit to them, but their footpath.

The playing unit has been working in unison with the coaches, and they are glad a couple of coaches stepped in to assist with the team.

They send their gratitude to Coach Ken Moseti, Willy "the Beast" , Jasper Mwaparo, Peter and player- coach Jordan Weaver.
