Shujaa Pride will give you a quick guide to help you understand how a sevens aside rugby game goes about. A rugby 7s game is played by sevens players on each side. The game has two halves that is first half and second half. Each half takes sevens minutes thus a total of 14 minutes. The players go for a minute half time break.
The scoring team is awarded five (5) points for a try and two (2) for a succesfull conversion. In rugby 7s , a conversion must be taken as a drop goal and it must be within 40 seconds after the try has been scored. Three (3) points are awarded for drop goals to the scoring team. The team that scores kicks off to the opposition.
A lineout occurs when the ball goes out of bounds. It takes place between 2 or 3 players with a player from the team that did not take it out throwing the ball back to play from the touch line.
When a player receives a yellow card, he or she is sent for a two minutes sin bin.
The playing positions are : Prop, Hooker , Prop , Scrum Half , Fly Half , Center and a winger. Each team should have 5 substitutes per game. All five substitutes can be used in the coarse of the game.
