Having won the Kenya Cup in 1977, 1989 and 1990, Eschuma had a rough 2015 season in the Kenya cup and National sevens series circuit. The University of Nairobi has started the process of re-launching its rugby team (Mean Machine).
UON Vice Chancellor, Professor Peter Mbithi said that the university is re-launching its rugby team and basket ball team for improved performance in upcoming tournaments.
The university is renovating and revamping the existing sports facilities, replenishing the kits and equipment and mobilizing resources to support the teams.
Plans are underway for the institution to award scholarships to outstanding players and increase partnership with corporates and give the teams (rugby and basket ball) global exposure.
Mean Machine performed poorly in this year’s national sevens series circuit. Eschuma had a bad performance right from the start of the series at Christie 7s before being relegated after Dala 7s.
From that point on, Mean Machine cemented their place at the Division two of Driftwood 7s, Prinsloo 7s and Kabeberi 7s with a string of poor results.
