Kenya Rugby Union C.E.O, Mr. Ronald Bukusi believes that the upcoming Safari 7s tournament will be like a build up for our national sevens sides towards the Olympics qualifiers in November in South Africa.
“This year we have worked towards improving our brand gradually over time. Going back to the summer international test series that we have had, we improved our attendance each time people came over to watch matches,” Ronald Bukusi said.
Kenya XVs hosted Spain and Portugal mid this year in international test matches. Kenya won the two fixtures and other than that, they saw off Tunisia in a Rugby Afrique tie and Uganda Cranes in the first leg of the Elgon cup in Nairobi.
“We have been improving, we have been working to address the various challenges that we have faced over time as a union. One of the big things we have right now is our spectator comfort levels and catering towards what they want to see. “ Ronald Bukusi concluded.
Only fourteen teams have confirmed their participation in Safari 7s. they are;
Kenya Shujaa, Kenya Morans, England Saxons, Brazil, Namibia, Samurai International, Newcastle Wailers, Uganda, Western Province from South Africa, Zimbabwe, Italy, Portugal, Spain and Australia Iconz.
