Bristol Rugby will host the Shamas Rugby Foundation Under13 team that will tour to Bristol from Thursday November 19th to Sunday November 29th 2015.
Shamas Rugby Foundation (SRF) is an NGO using the values of rugby to teach Life Skill Education to boys and girls living in poverty in urban settlements in Kenya.
The team comprised of 22 players and four adults will be hosted by 11 families of the pupils from St. Bede’s Catholic School in Bristol and the Bristol Rugby coaching staff.
Accompanying them will be the incoming CEO Edoardo De Paoli who has been very instrumental in their training, Shamas coaches Ken and Randy, last year’s tour boys set the bar very high by winning 6 of their 8 games they played.
The Shamas Rugby Foundation under13 team will first play against Rugby festival on November 23rd 2015 before facing Clifton College on 25th November. Their final match will be on Friday November 27th against St. Bede’s School.
Earlier this week, we spoke to Former Kenya Under19 Assistant head coach who is the current Shamas Rugby Coordinator Mr. Nicholas Aballa Abok and he had this to say,
“The tour is a very exciting moment for the boys who are drawn from the three Shamas Rugby foundation centres that is Kibera, Mathare and Eastland's. “
"The founder and Sponsor Azim Deen hopes that this will give them a chance to see the world and raise their self esteem so that when they come back they will be able to work hard in school and have a better future for themselves and their families and become better people that will contribute positively to the society and the sport of rugby. “

14 year old Centre, Felix Otieno Ochieng’ will be the skipper while Eighth man Silverster Mukabwa Indonya will be his deputy.
