Nanyuki sevens rugby tournament has been incorporated by the Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) onto the local sevens series for 2016 season to make this year a six-leg series competition.
Nanyuki Jackals will host the Nanyuki sevens tournament at their home ground (Nanyuki Sports club) that has been sponsoring them all through.
The tier one matches will be played at the Nanyuki sports club grounds that is also home to British Army Training Unit Kenya (BATUK) sports ground while the venue of tier two matches is yet to be confirmed. The tier two matches will probably be hosted at Nanyuki High School or Braeburn Nanyuki International school.
Nanyuki Jackals head coach Dennis Gem was pleased with KRU’s move to recognize their tournament and add it onto the sevens series calendar.
“This is very good for development of rugby here in Nanyuki. We started building rugby here right from the age grade and women’s rugby too so the Union has made a smart choice to encompass us in the circuit,” said Gem.
Gem also confirmed that they will run an age-grade and a women’s tournament on the Friday before the main event kicks off on the Saturday and Sunday.
