The scrumhalf positions himself/herself on the side of the pitch to which the team is most expected going to kick too. The scrumhalf lines up on the 22 metres line close to the touchline. When the forwards receive the ball, and there is pressure on them from the opposing side, the best thing to do is to setup a ruck on the spot. From this point, the ball can be passed wide. If the scrumhalf is in his/her own try-line, the scrum half can go for a clearance kick.
