Kenya sevens first match was against former coach Mike Friday. Shujaa took a 14 – 0 lead against the eagles and went at the break with all smiles. Rejuvenated Americans came at the second half all fired up and ended up winning 21-14. Injera and Amonde were Shujaa’s try scores as Asego’s conversions were 100% accurate. The sad fact is that Kenya sevens is yet to beat Mike Friday’s side.
Shujaa took to the pitch against England at 6:12 am. Talisman Collins Injera scored Shujaa’s online try as Asego’s blessed right foot converted the try. England 7s won 17-7 against Kenya 7s.
Our Final pool D match was against Wales. Having lost their first two matches, this game was of no significance to both Shujaa and the Welsh as they were just fighting for third place. Mwamba RFC’s Dan Sikuta and Strathmore Leo’s Billy Odhiambo had their names on the score board for Kenya Sevens. Wales sealed the game with a late try to end the match at 19-12.
Kenya Sevens were relegated to bowl quarter final and they will face Canada at 4:30am on Sunday.
