Everything comes to a standstill in Machakos when Masaku 7s is taking place. This year’s Masaku sevens with no doubt will be bigger and better.
The event will take place on July 4th and 5th at Machakos stadium and nine foreign teams are expected to participate. The foreign teams will be from Argentina, Ireland, Spain, France, Scotland, Norway and Fiji.
The teams are Puerredoy (Argentina), Boyne RFC (Ireland), Berabera (Spain), Barbarians (France), Edinburgh Accies (Scotland), Uprising RFC, Tabadamu (Fiji), Oslo RFC and Tambusoro Angels(Norway).
The main cup winner will pocket Ksh 2,000,000, the runners up will take home Ksh 500,000 while the winner of the 3rd and 4th play-off will pocket Ksh 250,000.
The second tier champions of Masaku 7s tournament will take home Ksh 200,000. The losing finalists will get Ksh 100,000 as the 3rd placed team will get Ksh 50,000.
In the college competition category, the champion will get Ksh 100,000, the runner-up will get Ksh 50,000. The winner of the 3rd and 4th play-off will pocket Ksh 25,000.
Last year’s main cup winner, Tabadamu from Fiji pocketed Ksh 500,000.
