With two minutes remaining to half time, Samoa took a 5-0 lead through Gregory Foe in the Wellington sevens shield final. Canada later equalized and stretched the lead with tries from Admir Cejvanovic, Lucas Hammond and Harry Jones.

Canada cruised 26-10 to claim the shield title against Samoa.
